Baby Update!
So the 28 week check-up started on a dicey note, but things got better. According to the Midwife I saw, I was not measuring correctly. (It’s called the Fundus height and it’s the measurement from the pubic bone to the top of the uterus) So after much scary talk, I went to get a sonogram done to either verify that the baby’s growth had slowed down, or that the midwife was just unable to get a correct measurement. The sonogram showed that Siri’s growth is GREAT!! She measured 28 weeks 3 days. PLUS, her femur is measuring 30 weeks. Well long legs do run in my family!
Heart rate is great, and she’s head down. So all is well with us! We now are on an every two week appointment schedule(instead of every 4 weeks). So my next appt is August 2nd.
No new pics to share this week, we never got around to taking them last weekend. We went air mattress shopping instead. Maybe next week??
More Baby – Nursery News!
She’s now kicking hard enough to be seen externally. It’s a little crazy and Sanj thinks it’s like aliens. Some days it feels that way! We’ve given her, her name, Siri Josephine. Siri is pronounced like the the first 2 syllables in serious. It is swedish in origin, and it means “beautiful victory”. Which is somehow very fitting.
This past week I made some special burp cloths for Sanj, for more thorough coverage, recycling some flannel blankets a friend gave me. Thanks Erika!
We got her name on the wall, as well as all her art. The room is looking great!

The turtle is a lithograph print done by a great Minnesota artist by the name of Steve Nowatski. Most of his prints feature endangered species, this one is called "Adrift". I grew up tending his booth at art fairs.

This is a puppet from India, it has a man on one side and a lady on the other, like a flip doll. Pramila brought it back with her from her recent trip to India.

Another artist friend did this one. Her name is Rosemary Koster, and the name of the painting is "Umbrella Trees". I admired it at an art fair when I was about 8 or 9 years old, and so she gave it to my Mom to give to me.
A couple months ago, I sold our living room furniture, we both thought it was pretty un-comfy… It sold and was picked up in less then 24hrs… I probably should have asked for more for it… So we ordered a couch, and bought a fouton for my studio. Out of the furniture we had before we kept the recliner. So all that said, we currently have th futon in the living room with the recliner, and a chair from our bedroom. So once the couch comes, the recliner will also go into the nursery. We have decided against the pricey glider rockers. They are stupid expensive…. The couch is not scheduled to get here until mid-September. I’m hoping for an early arrival though ( please hope with me!). I’m excited to have the room finished and our beautiful couch home! I also just found a bookshelf at the Frisco Resale shop. So soon, there will be NO MORE CLUTTER in her room, at least until she arrives.
Other than all that I’m mid way through planning a family event with my Mother-in-Law. Not too many things left to do. I’m super excited that two of my sisters will be making it down here for it. Lisa, all the way from Alaska, and Cecily from our hometown of Bismarck, ND. As we will all be in saris, I’m incredibly excited to have pictures of us together.(even if I do look like a giant hippo….)
My next doc appt is July 21st, and that will mark 28 weeks, or the end of my second trimester. I will then be seeing the doc/midwife every 2 weeks. It’s crazy how fast it’s all going, even if some days creep by.
My belly is giant or so it feels, so Sanj is going to take preggers pics of me this weekend. Hope we get a few that are good. So we took a few today…..
Next week will have a few of those pics along with updates on the baby!
Pramila is also very excited about Siri’s arrival and has made her first toy purchase, can you guess?
TTFN!
Baby-Nursery Update
Hey all! The Maple tree is up.
You can see in the photos that each leaf was applied separately. It actually took a ton less time then I expected. The tree trunk was in 3 different sections, and each side that branched out was in 3 different sections. It went together pretty quickly. We finished it up in a couple of hours. I absolutely love the way it looks!!
